GBRD is very excited to announce that we have teamed up with specialist automotive publisher, Narrative Books to publish the first Great British Racing Drivers luxury coffee-table book.

Great British Racing Drivers (GBRD) is a collector’s edition coffee-table book featuring a unique collection of photographs by Indira Flack. Celebrating Britain’s most iconic and inspirational drivers of the past, present, and future. From Karting to F1, not all champions but all inspiring in many ways. Men, women and kids. World, European and British Champions. Knights of the Realm, CBEs, OBEs, MBEs. Dogs, horses, chickens and a lightsaber. GBRD features over 100 drivers in settings and locations that link to their motorsport story or illustrates their personalities away from the track.

Goodwood has invited Indira and her GBRD project to join them at the 2023 Festival of Speed, where there will be a dedicated GBRD exhibition to launch the book. The exhibition will have opportunities for people to buy the book and order prints, as well as see photographs. There will also be opportunities for key drivers to sign copies for the public. With an expected footfall of over 210,000 visitors, the exhibition is set to be an extraordinary honouring of motorsport legends, appealing to fans of all ages.

British photographer, Indira Flack’s, inspiration for GBRD came from photographing at Goodwood Festival of Speed surrounded by these legends and characters of motorsport, and a desire to do something different. This is not the only link to the renowned motorsport event. With his knowledge and passions for both motorsport and photography, the event’s founders and former advertising photographer, The Duke of Richmond, has written the foreword.

24 Hours of Le Mans winner and former F1 driver, Mark Blundell, who is also featured in the exhibition, said: “The collection of portraits put together by Indira of some of the best British talent in motorsport is stunning. I am glad to see someone has put so much effort into making this happen as it’s been a long time coming, but finally it’s here for all to see.”

“It has been an absolute privilege to spend time with and hear tales from, some of the most successful and talented British racing drivers. The first three drivers to be photographed were Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees and Sir Jackie Stewart. I had a brilliant time with each of them. There was much laughter and listening to their fascinating stories was enthralling. What could be better than chatting for an hour in John Surtees’ kitchen over a cup of tea he’s just made for you. The drivers I’ve worked with have shown great support for the project and were very excited to hear that the photographs were to become the very first visiting exhibition at The Silverstone Interactive Museum 2019-2021. GBRD is currently exhibiting at Motorsport UK, Bicester Motion, OX27 8FY. Indira’s intention is to carry on adding drivers to the project. “There are so many drivers who I haven’t managed to catch up with yet, especially through Covid. With new ones emerging all the time, GBRD has the potential to keep me busy for years !”

With personal family experience of dementia, GBRD is proudly supporting Race Against Dementia (RAD), a charity founded by three time F1 World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart to fund pioneering research into the prevention and cure of dementia. As well as donating 10% of all print and book sales, Indira worked with RAD to create a special limited edition set of selected prints for a fundraising auction which was due to take place during the Australian Grand Prix weekend 2020. Sadly due to Covid the event was cancelled. but the prints were held over for another event and all proceeds were donated.
