We will outline the different pathways, required skills, and available roles, along with actionable steps to help you take the next step in your coaching journey. During this session we will discuss and explore what makes an exceptional motorsport coach. As well as bringing examples from other sports, we will invite participants to share their experiences of great coaching in the sport. We will look to use this as an opportunity to shape future work we are doing to support coaches and coaching in motorsport.

Making faster drivers from outside the car: Using sport science to improve driver performance

This presentation will focus on the critical role sport science plays in enhancing driver performance beyond the car. Motorsport is as much about mental and physical conditioning as it is about technical skill, and this session will explore how training, nutrition, psychology, and sleep can give drivers the competitive edge they need. Through an evidence-based approach, the session will highlight how these factors contribute to a driver’s endurance, focus, and overall race performance. The session will conclude with a Q&A, offering attendees the opportunity to dive deeper into specific topics or challenges.
